If you are an employee, and if you are a registered member of the EPFO (Employee Provident Fund Organization), then you do not need to wait for your PF statement till the end of the year in order to know your PF status. You can keep a tab of your PF balance anywhere, anytime in the comfort of your office or home using these 4 avenues that will save your precious time.
As an alternative to the unified portal, individuals will be able to access their PF status through their e-passbook, on a website that is run by the EPFO. But however, the unified web portal can still be used to conduct transactions such as transfers. In order to view your online EPF status on the official web portal of EPFO, individuals will need to tag their UAN and thereby, individuals will be able to print or download their PF passbook from the portal itself.
The member e-passbook is available at www.epfindia.gov.in
Select the ‘For Employees’ option which is under ‘Our Services’.
Then select the ‘Members Passbook’ option under ‘Services’.

In order to have access to passbook, you need to ensure that your UAN has been activated by your employer. Though, the UAN is provided by the EPFO, it is verified and activated by your employer. Once it has been activated, you can login to the member web portal with your password and check you pf status.
Sending an SMS
If your UAN has been registered with EPFO you can get details regarding all your contributions and know your PF status by sending an SMS to 7738299899. You need to send a message stating- EPFOHO UAN ENG. The first 3 letters to the preferred language is ENG. Similarly, if you want to receive a message in Marathi, then you need to type EPFOHO UAN MAR in the message box.
This SMS facility is also available in English, Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali and Malayalam. EPFO can only send details of those members who have been registered with it. Thus, ensure that your UAN is linked with your bank account, PAN and Aadhaar or else you could ask your employer to link it for you.
Individuals who have already been registered on the UAN portal, you can simply give a miss call on 011-22901406 from your registered mobile number and this will help you to fetch your PF details. You need to ensure that your UAN is linked with your bank account number, PAN and Aadhaar or ask your employer to do his for you.
EPFO has also introduced an app known as m-sewa, which will help you to fetch all your PF details. All you need to do is download this app from Google Play Store and click on ‘Member’ and then select ‘Balance/Passbook’ option. Subsequently, you will need to enter your UAN and your registered mobile number to use the app.
